District Active Directory
Overview
Section titled “Overview”District AD provides Windows workstation identity at TCR, separately from Google Workspace (which handles email/docs identity). It’s tied into DCSD’s (the district’s) broader infrastructure rather than being a fully independent TCR system.
Technology
Section titled “Technology”On-prem Active Directory, running on an aging Windows Server 2008 box.
Not yet documented: exact hardware, patch/support status given Server 2008 is long past mainstream support, migration plans if any.
Background & why
Section titled “Background & why”Not yet documented: history of this AD instance and its relationship to DCSD’s own directory infrastructure.
Access
Section titled “Access”Not yet documented: who has domain admin access, OU structure, group policy usage.
Dependencies
Section titled “Dependencies”Used during onboarding when printer or shared drive access is needed (see Onboarding Process and Offboarding Process).
Backup & recovery
Section titled “Backup & recovery”Not yet documented.
Given this runs on Windows Server 2008 — an OS well past end of mainstream support — this is a strong candidate for a dedicated risk/replacement-planning writeup, separate from just documenting current state.
